Meet Maggie

Meet Maggie, a one year old red heeler. On Sunday, my dad had made his weekly Sunday trip to the feed store in Alexandria. He came across this little girl who had been tied to a bumper of atruck...free to GOOD home. After talking with the man who was getting rid of her, we found it was truly a sad story. She had been dumped off the side of the rode (before this gentleman had taken her in) by her breeder due to an overbite she had. Which to any dog lover how could you dump an innocent animal off on the side of the road just because it had an overbite. I can speak for my family, WE WOULDN'T! After getting to know this gentleman he explained how he had too many dogs at home and his other dogs had been picking on her. If he didn't have someone who wanted her then he was going to take her to the pound. It turns out her name was Kloe. Many of you may know my family and I lost our blue heeler, Chloe, back in January in a horrible pond accident. It was such a devastating loss to our family and our other two dogs that we had no intentions of purchasing another animal till our hearts were healed. After discussing it over and knowing the right thing to do I went and got Kloe before the man took her to the pound. It was one of those situations where what do we do? After losing a Chloe, what are the chances of stumbling upon another Kloe who was about to be put in a more horrible situation than she had already been in. My dad just happened to be at the right place at the right time. So it's our second day here with "Maggie" which we had to rename her, considering the circumstances. She is such a loving animal who just wants to trust someone so badly. We've learned that it seems as though she's been abused by someone previously who never did much of anything with her. It is such a sad stiuation but we rescued her from such a horrible thing and will provide her with the love and home that she never had.
